Welcome to the Wachusett Regional High School Library and the NEW WRHS LMC website! My name is Mrs. Stern, and I am extremely happy to be joining the WRHS community. A bit about myself: I graduated summa cum laude from Boston University’s College of Communication with a B. S. in Film & Television, a minor in Art History, and a concentration in German Language and Literature. As an undergraduate, I was even fortunate to take a course taught by Nobel Peace Prize-winner, Elie Wiesel, all about hidden literature and banned books! I knew that a life of reading, books, and information studies lay ahead of me. I went on to earn a Master of Library and Information Science from Simmons College, where I specialized to become a School Library Media Specialist. Prior to joining the team at WRHS, I worked for several years as an elementary school librarian, and as a children’s and young adult (YA) librarian in a public library. I am an avid reader—I normally read over 1000 pages every week! I am very much looking forward to publishing book reviews on this blog, as well as getting book clubs and other activities up-and-running in the library. Additionally, I, of course, would love to hear what you are reading! Please do not hesitate to ask me any library or research-related questions you may have. The library is an invaluable resource in our modern, information-saturated lives; it is important to me that all students and members of the WRHS community feel comfortable visiting the library and taking advantage of its many services. If you have suggestions for the library, I want to hear them! Specific authors you like, certain genres you prefer, or certain research or non-fiction topics that are of interest to you—I want to hear about it. The more information you provide me, the better I can tailor the library to fit your needs. Thank you for checking out the new WRHS LMC website! I look forward to meeting you all, and wish you a wonderful 2013-14 school year! -Mrs. Stern P.S. Contribute to our summer reading survey! Did you read a great book that we should know about? I'll post responses at the end of September. |
