Exciting news! We now have access to a new, primary-source-rich database--perfect for many research projects and assignments. The Historical Newspapers: The New York Times database allows users to search The New York Times archive all the way back to the 1850s! You may search by specific date, explore topics (e.g. "Westward Expansion" or "World War II"), research "Famous Dead People" (yes, really--that's what the section is called.), and investigate timelines by century. The best part? The search results show real, scanned newspaper pages. You can select a date, and virtually flip through the entire newspaper front-to-back! The database allows you to save and print individual articles, or entire pages as .pdf files. Finding a good primary source should not cause you stress. Check out Historical Newspapers: The New York Times today!
